Ören is a neighborhood located on the coast of Gökova Bay and connected to the Milas district of Muğla today. Its old name was Gereme, which was used until recently, and its ancient name is Keramos. (As a matter of fact, Gökova Bay is also sometimes referred to as Kerme Bay, keeping its ancient name alive.)

On December 17, 1986, it became a municipality with the status of municipality.[1] It became a neighborhood with the law numbered 6360, which was accepted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on 12 November 2012.

It is 40 km from Milas, 60 km from Bodrum and 58 km from Muğla. Oren, which can also be reached by sea, is at the port for boats.

The population of the town is about 3,000 people and it is 9,000 together with its villages. In the summer months, the population of the town exceeds 30,000 with the effect of domestic and foreign tourists. Ören became a neighborhood after Muğla became a metropolitan city on March 30, 2014.
